Eden Retirement Living partners with Friends of Victoria Park in Newbury

Eden is proud to be partnering with the Friends of Victoria Park, a group of green-fingered volunteers in Newbury, Berkshire. Ahead of the launch of Pearl House, Newbury, we will be launching a programme of activity to support the work of the Friends over the coming months, building a long-term collaboration of which future residents have the option to join.

The Friends of Victoria Park dedicate their spare time to the maintenance and improvement of the park, which is one of the most prominent public green spaces in the centre of Newbury and home to a variety of community events throughout the year.

To mark the beginning of this partnership, volunteers from Eden joined the Friends – along with Councillor Sarah Slack and James Heasman, Grounds Maintenance Officer from Newbury Town Council – to prune the park’s lavender bushes ready for winter. Next spring, lavender and rosemary will be replanted at the borders of the park to enhance the entrance further.

Pearl House is less than half a mile from Victoria Park and our residents will be able to enjoy a peaceful stroll and regular events, such as summer concerts around the bandstand. Some residents may also wish to support the park, which would be very welcome.”

The 60 apartments at Pearl House, located on Bartholomew Street, will launch for sale in January 2020 to buyers aged over 65 who wish to live independently yet in a secure, safe environment. There will be a choice of one and two-bedroom apartments and penthouses, the latter offering private rooftop gardens, all arranged around a central landscaped courtyard.
