Eden Retirement Living has acquired a 6.37-acre site in Downlands Park on Bolnore Farm Lane, in Haywards Heath, where it plans to develop a new retirement village comprising a selection of apartments, cottages and residents’ amenities.

The site neighbours existing residential homes and the proposed new retirement village will be a natural extension to the community, while benefitting from its own expansive grounds. Immediately adjacent to the site is an Age UK community building, while an existing retirement development is situated to the north.

Local amenities adjacent to the proposed retirement village include neighbouring Beech Hurst Gardens – famous for its natural beauty and its miniature railway – along with tennis courts and a bowling green. Haywards Heath’s town centre is 0.5 miles away and sits to the east of the development site.

Residents will be able to make use of the existing transport network, with connections to London and the South Coast in under 45 minutes. A selection of cycle and walking routes also connect the location with the South Downs and surrounding countryside.

Eden has commissioned architects Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt, who are preparing plans for the design of the new village. In the coming months, Eden will be meeting with the existing community, residents and other local stakeholders to share its proposals.
