Retirement villages

Based in the beautiful town of Haywards Heath, this site offers an opportunity of developing within an inviting, established community, whilst positioned in easy access of London, Gatwick airport and the South Coast.

Retirement Villages

Haywards Heath is situated in the heart of mid-Sussex and surrounded by beautiful countryside and picturesque villages. Found in the Ouse Valley, its close to the Weald and the South Downs, with Ashdown Forest to the North.

Nearby attractions include the Bluebell Railway and spectacular gardens at Borde Hill and Wakehurst Place.  The fine garden at Wakehurst Place is the home of the interesting Millennium Seed Collection while Borde Hill Gardens is considered ‘a horticultural paradise’.  Neighbouring Beech Hurst Gardens is famous for not only its natural beauty but also its miniature railway, along with its many other amenities including tennis courts and a bowling green.

Haywards Heath is an incredibly well-connected town.  London can be reached within 45 minutes by train, with a 15 minutes journey to Brighton town.  By road, Haywards Heath residents can use the A23, which connects Sussex with the M23 and M25.

With a warm community feel, Haywards Heath has a busy shopping centre featuring family retailers as well as main stores, and a variety of independent restaurants, cafes and bars in the Broadway, together with household names such as Zizzi, Prezzo and Café Rouge.  The Orchards shopping centre offers forty shops, a café and fitness suite all under one roof.  The vast range of stores include popular favourites… Marks & Spencers, Next, Boots Opticians, Tescos, Holland & Barrett and Superdrug, to name a few.  There is a ‘state of the art’ leisure centre for the more fitness-focussed, together with plenty of other pleasurable pursuits ranging from operatic societies to walking groups.

The neighbouring village of Cuckfield has a bustling High Street which has a range of boutique shops selling everything from vintage furniture to locally sourced produce.  Situated to the north of Haywards Heath, Lindfield village offers a rich historic and architectural heritage. Known for its medieval timber-framed houses, lime trees and natural spring-fed pond, Lindfield’s common is still central to village celebrations and leisure activities, with fairs, festivals, bonfire celebrations and leisure activities.

The development itself currently houses a large two storey 19th Century ‘Arts and Crafts’ style Victorian manor, located on the north site of the site, with a mature parkland setting to the south and a formal garden to the north.  This building features ornately decorated gables, large expressive chimneys, varying roof pitches and decorative ridge tiles. It is our opinion the development would support a refurbishment of the existing building to provide 20 apartments; with a further 30 new build cottages.
