Retirement Villages

Enjoy a unique lifestyle of luxury living…. Fine dining, lobby and lounge, beautifully landscaped gardens, concierge services and under-croft parking.

Our stunning development of 60 retirement apartments in Bartholomew Street, Newbury.  Here you will not only find beautiful designer shops, but an abundance of amenities to cater for your everyday requirements.  The retail offer is a good mix of well-known high street names and local independents, including the award-winning Camp Hopson department store.  The Parkway open street development features more than 50 shops and kiosks that have turned Newbury into a top shopping destination.

With all this on offer, you’ll have no need to leave but should you wish to travel further afield, Newbury is extremely well-positioned.  In relation to neighbouring cities, it is 26 miles south of Oxford, 25 miles north of Winchester, 27 miles south east of Swindon and 20 miles west of Reading.

The core of Newbury is built around the inverted Y-shape of Bartholomew Street, where our development is situated, and Cheap Street.  These merge at the bridge over the River Kennet, which leads to Northbrook Street on the northern side.  The main streets form the town centre, with routes leading out into the rest of the town.  The width of the main streets, the open area of Market Place and restrictions on through traffic help to generate an open and pedestrian-friendly atmosphere.

Based within the Newbury Town Centre conservation area, our development will be in amongst buildings from the 18th and 19th century, with a 15th century parish church located nearby.

This picturesque location is the perfect place to eat out or take a stroll along the neighbouring banks of the River Kennet with family and friends.

The apartments on our development are arranged in a ‘U’ shape, around a central landscaped courtyard, so everyone can benefit from the beautiful two-tiered lawns and gardens.

Our luxury ‘hotel-style’ services include an open-planned lounge also overlooking the courtyard, 24 hour concierge services and a private house restaurant.  A suite is also available for any visiting guests.  Personal roof terraces are featured with our third-floor apartments providing additional outdoor privacy if preferred.

Car parking accessed from Oddfellows Road provides provides 24 parking spaces.

The original site contributed very little to the biodiversity of the area, so we have incorporated a number of green areas within our design.  These will include a landscaped approach to the main entrance; soft landscaping to the north of the site at ground level, a central courtyard plus first floor roof gardens.

Newbury town is served by excellent travel links. An average train journey into London takes only 60 minutes, with the train station just a short distance from the site itself.

As Newbury is situated on the main crossroads between London and the West country, the south coast and the Midlands, you can travel to London, Bristol and Bournemouth within a hour’s drive.

Planning permission has been achieved for this new build mixed-use development at the heart of Newbury, developed as a benchmark scheme for Eden Retirement Living.
